Description:

This is a nice example of a New Service revolver manufactured in 1902. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/1884, 1900 patent dates, "NEW SERVICE CAL.44" on the left side and the Rampant Colt in the center of "+COLT+/NEW SERVICE" on the left side of the frame. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and niter blue trigger, blade front and frame notch rear sights, and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with "COLT" in an oval at the top. The back strap is inscribed " "To" A.C. Reisz" and the right side of the frame is period engraved "PRESENTED BY/MEMBERS/OF/BATTERY "A"/1ST LIGHT ARTY/WIS. VOL'S U.S.A. DEC 31 1900". Writers research shows the 1st Light Artillery was a Civil War Unit organized October 10, 1861 and mustered out July 18, 1865. This may have been a some kind of a reunion presentation.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 95% original blue finish with some minor muzzle wear, some minor flaking on the frame and some scattered minor oxidation and spotting. The hammer retains 70% original case colors and the trigger retains 60% original bright niter blue finish. The grips are also excellent with crisp checkering. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. A little research may prove interesting.
