Description:

This is an excellent example of a U.S. contract Colt Model 1903 Pocket Automatic Pistol that was manufactured in 1944. The pistol has a Parco-Lubrite finish, blued barrel with bright chamber and oil-finished checkered walnut stocks inlaid with nickel-silver Colt medallions. The magazine has a full blue finish. The slide has the late style, square profile rear sight and front sight with serrated blade. The right side of the frame is roll-stamped "U.S. PROPERTY" above the trigger guard. The left side of the frame has the Ordnance escutcheon lightly stamped behind the slide safety lever. The Colt "Triangle/VP" inspection mark is stamped on the left upper trigger guard bow and a "X" assembler's mark is stamped on the lower left side of the trigger guard bow. The right side of the slide is roll-stamped "COLT AUTOMATIC/CALIBRE 32 RIMLESS SMOKELESS" in two lines and the left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the elongated Hartford address and 1897 and 1903 patent dates in two lines. The bottom of the magazine floor plate is roll-stamped "CAL.32/COLT". During World War II the U.S. Contract Colt Model 1903 Pocket Automatic Pistols were furnished to the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), Naval Intelligence, U.S. Army General Officers and the British Special Operations Executive to arm resistance forces in occupied Europe.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The pistol appears to be un-issued and retains 99% of the original Parco-Lubrite finish. The pistol has only a few very insignificant storage marks and three or four tiny spots of surface rust along the upper left edge of the slide. The checkered walnut stocks are in perfect condition. The Ordnance escutcheon on the left side of the frame is faint but visible. All of the other markings on the frame and slide are crisp. The bore is excellent. The magazine retains 99% of the dull blue finish. This is an outstanding example of a U.S. contract Colt Model 1903 Pocket Automatic Pistol.
