Description:

This lot has many if not most of the major U.S. edged weapons/bayonets and fighting knives from the post civil war era to Vietnam. 1) Original 1873 Trapdoor bayonet with scabbard and leather belt hanger, 2) 1873 Trowel bayonet with the very rare wooden pommel insert that converts this bayonet from attaching to the rifle to using it in a hand-held fashion: 3) 1880 entrenching tool/knife with sheath, 4) Early Model 1892-1898 Krag bayonet with scabbard. The bayonet has the scarce early 1895 dated blade with U.S. on the obverse. 5) Scarce Model 1904 Hospital corpsman Bolo/knife with original leather scabbard. The blade is stamped "U.S./43532" and the obverse is stamped "SA/Ordnance bomb/1914, and the scabbard is stamped "ROCK ISLAND/ARSENAL/ 1910/T.C.C.". 6) Scarce original Model 1909 Bolo with a type 3 leather scabbard. The blade is marked "PLUMB/PHILA/Ordnance Bomb/1917" and the scabbard is partially marked "LADEW/P.F.G.". 7) Desirable early Model 1905 bayonet and type 2 leather scabbard with the long metal throat and no leather tip. The bayonet is marked "U.S./403314" and the obverse is marked "S.A./Ordnance Bomb/1909", the leather scabbard is stamped on the back side, "R.I.A./1907/H.E.K." and as noted has the original long metal throat and belt hanger. 8) Second Pattern Model 1905 bayonet with the 1910 model canvas scabbard. Marked "S.A./1909" and the obverse is marked "U.S./398892". The scabbard has the light tan, unmarked canvas cover with the leather tip. Arsenal refurbished. 9) Excellent 2nd pattern Winchester marked model 1917 bayonet and green leather scabbard. The blade is marked "1917/W" and the obverse is marked with the "Eagle Head Proof/U.S.". 10) Desirable Model 1917 Bolo knife with 1st pattern canvas scabbard. The blade is marked "MODEL 1917" and the obverse is marked "PLUMB/PHILA/1918". The leather tip of the scabbard is marked "BAUER BROS/1918". 11) Model 1905E1 modified bayonet, (with the spear point) the blade is marked "S.A./1918" and the obverse is marked "U.S./799295", (does not include the scabbard). 12) Model 1942 bayonet and plastic scabbard. The bayonet is an early version marked "OL/US/1942" and has the original "US" marked green plastic scabbard. 13) 3-each WWII M1 model bayonets, two with green plastic scabbards. The blades are marked "AFH/US", (does not include the scabbard), "UC/US/1943" with an original issue green plastic scabbard and the last one is marked "UFH/US/1943" with a cut down MK MKI scabbard. 16) 2-each original WWII "USMC" marked Hospital Corpsman Bolo/knives with leather scabbards. The blades are marked "U.S.M.C./VILLAGE-BLACKSMITH and U.S.M.C./ CHATILLON, N.Y.", respectively. The leather scabbards are marked "USMC/BOYT 44 and USMC/BOYT45" respectively. 17) Very desirable WWII "V-42" survival knife with original leather scabbard. The blade is stamped "Kinfolks" and has the correct black micarta handle with large brass cross-guard. The leather is original and unmarked. 18) 2-each US Marked M4 bayonets for the M1 carbine, (both without scabbards). One is a WWII version that is marked "U.S./MK4/KI" and the other one is a scarce later Vietnam era one that is marked "U.S./M4 CONETTA". 20) Very rare post-WWII production M4 Bayonet and scabbard "Made in Germany" for the occupation forces. The blades are unmarked, but they can be identified by the two-cross pins through the cross-guard that is stamped with a number (193821) and the brown wood grain-pattern plastic handles and green plastic scabbard. The scabbard is marked on the throat, "U.S./M8A1/MADE IN W.-GERMANY". 21) US Model M5 for the M1 Garand, (without scabbard) that is marked "US/M5/AERIAL". 22) US Model M6 bayonet for the M14 rifle, (without the scabbard), that is marked "U.S./M6/MILPAR COL". 23) Very scarce Vietnam issue model 1917 long bayonet for the trench shotgun with original issue scabbard. These were intended for the Winchester Model 12 and 1200 series of shotguns. 24) Model M7 bayonet with M10 scabbard for the early M16 rifles. The bayonet is marked "U.S./M7/Gen-CUT" and the later pattern scabbard is marked "M10/ with the assembly and mfg. number on the side of the scabbard. 25) US Navy "MK"I fighting knife made by KABAR, that is complete with an original "US Navy marked MK2" scabbard.
