This is a unique Colt Bisley model that was manufactured in approximately the 1900 time frame, that was probably returned to the factory and later rebarreled with a 7 1/2 inch barrel and cylinder chambered in the ever popular "44 Special" caliber. This cartridge was introduced in 1907 and was an immediate success with the target shooters as it proved to be very accurate. This pistol has a standard smokeless-powder Bisley frame that is marked on the left side with the two line, three date patent marking followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The top of the barrel is marked with the unusual marking of: "(BISLEY MODEL) over COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." with the left side marked in two lines, of "(BISLEY MODEL) /COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY 44 SPECIAL", both indicating that this was a later barrel installed by the factory who may have added the "BISLEY" markings. It has the standard fixed blade front sight, with notched frame rear sight. The hammer cut-out in the frame has a single number "7" inspector proof above the firing pin hole. The loading gate is marked with assembly number "766". It has the factory matching serial number (198368) on the frame, trigger guard and back strap. Other than the markings noted above the barrel and cylinder have no other proofs or markings of any kind. It is fitted with the standard Bisley style wide hammer with smooth wide trigger and is fitted with a set of checkered brown, hard rubber Colt grips with Rampant Colt in an oval at the top.

Refinished/rebarreled (factory replacement). The frame, back strap and trigger guard have all turned a silver patina with the barrel and cylinder retaining 90% of their blue. An unusual example of a Colt Bisley revolver. Mechanically fine.
