Manufactured in 1920. The top of the barrel ahead of the address is inscribed "VERITE SANS PEUR" which is French translated "Truth Without Fear". In addition there is light scroll engraving on the sides at the muzzle and the one line address has a simple line border. The left side of the barrel is marked "45 COLT" and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt. The upper left front of the frame is marked with a "crown/V" proofmark and the butt is inscribed "Don Cowen". Lightly engraved trigger guard, back strap and ejector housing. The serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame, none present on the trigger guard and a partially visible mis-matched number on the back strap. All blue finish and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top.

Rating Definition:

Period refurbished with 75% quality custom blue finish remaining with brown patina on the outer edge of the ejector housing, back strap and most of the front strap. There is some minor pitting on the recoil shield and frame, and some scattered minor spotting. The grips are fair showing very heavy wear with most areas being smooth. Modified front sight. Clear markings. The action is fine. Writer cannot recall seeing an inscription like this before!
