Manufactured in 1882. The top of the barrel has the two line Hartford address with the acid etched "COLT DA 38" on the left side of the barrel. The frame has the three line, three patent date marking and the left side of the trigger guard is stamped "38 CAL". Nickel plated with niter blue finish present on the hammer, trigger and screws. Visible numbers match with the assembly number "579" on the loading gate. It is fitted with bird head ivory grips.

Very fine. The revolver retains 80% plus frosted original nickel finish showing a mottled brown-gray patina mixed with original finish on the grip straps and some flaking (mostly on the forward side of the cylinder). The etched caliber panel is crisp. The non-factory replacement grips are fine with age cracking (mostly towards the bottoms). The ivory has an attractive grain pattern and color.
