Manufactured in 1880 and subsequently refurbished by Colt. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line Hartford address, "COLT DA 38" on the left side and the three line, three patent dates on the left side of the frame. The matching serial number is marked on the frame and trigger guard. The upper right rear of the trigger guard is marked with the Colt six point rework star indicating factory repairs and or refinish. Casehardened frame with blue remaining parts, blade front and frame notch rear sights, "Bull's-eye" ejector rod head and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top.

Very fine as factory refurbished with 85% blue finish remaining showing some muzzle and high edge wear, some thinning on the barrel, ejector housing and back strap. The frame retains 95% of the case colors. Faded on the left side, bright on the right. There is some evidence of grinding and tool marks on the toe of the butt around the rear screw, removing the butt number. The grips are very fine, the left panel has faded to brown, there is some wear on the high edges and the checkering is crisp. The markings remain crisp and clear. The action is fine.
