The smooth bore barrel gauges at approximately .70 caliber and is without sights. The rear portion is inscribed "Wm Pettis Troy ??/from/J.P. Woodworth, Dec 25th 1884". The lock plate is marked "U. STATES", (partially visible), ahead of the hammer and "S.NORTH/BERLIN/CON" behind the hammer. All iron mountings and mounted with a walnut stock with a "V" visible on the left flat.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The pistol has been period embellished in nickel, probably the same time the inscription was done, with 40% of the dull nickel finish remaining. The barrel band and hammer have been cleaned and remain bright, the remaining metal has a silver gray appearance. The stock has been sanded and refinished some time ago and remains good with some minor dents and dings. The markings, unless noted above, and inscription are clear. The action is fine.
