Description:

Approximately 23,000 of these revolvers were manufactured in the late 1850s and early 1860s, most of them for the U.S. government. Small inspection marks are present on most of the components (a couple are double stamped). The left side of the frame has the New York address and the right side has the 1856 patent date. Matching numbers on the barrel lug, cylinder, hammer and hammer well. Fitted with a smooth one piece grip stamped with a cartouche on both sides.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The revolver retains 40% original blue finish with the balance a mottled brown patina showing a smooth gray patina on the grip straps. The hammer and loading lever retain traces of original case colors. The grip is very good with some extensive minor pressure dents. The butt of the grip has a long shallow cut and a gouge. The cartouches are legible. Mechanically fine.
