Description:

Manufactured circa 1867 with a total production of approximately 3,000. This carbine as the six groove 50 caliber barrel and the Spencer patent magazine cut-off, an extra wide device instead of the usual long narrow cartridge ejector guide mounted on top of the breechblock. The top of the receiver is marked with the three line address and patent date and the breech end of the barrel is marked "M1865". Some of these Model 1867s were manufactured with surplus Model 1865 barrels. The matching serial number is marked on the top rear of the receiver and on the bottom of the barrel under the forearm. High post front sight and folding leaf rear sight graduated to 900 yards. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a saddle ring bar and ring on the left wrist, sling swivel and iron carbine buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 40% original blue finish mixed with a smooth brown patina. The lever retains 50% original blue finish with a smooth mottled brown patina on the balance. The receiver retains 70% original case colors with a smooth gray patina, with 60% muted original case colors on the lock and a smooth gray patina on the balance, and on the remaining parts. The wood is also fine with scattered minor dents, dings and scratches. The markings are clear. Mechanically fine.
