Description:

This is an Officer's blue cloth Home Service pattern helmet of the Royal Artillery. The 4 panel body is composed of cork with blue cloth. The gilt plate has the Royal Arms of Great Britain with a King's crown, the markings "DIEU ET MON DROIT" and "UBIQUE" underneath with a cannon below and then "QUO FAS ET GLORIA DUCUNT" at the bottom. The top is of the artillery style with a gilt four pointed base with a ball. The gilt velvet backed chin chain is suspended with Tudor rose ear bosses. The front and rear peak is lined with green skived leather. The sweatband is natural skived leather with a white silk liner. There is a "TRAYLER & Co./OUTFITTERS" label with a "6 5/8" size label.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, the outside cloth shows minor wear and a few light marks. The leather edging shows some material loss. The gilt components show minor wear on the high edges. The gilt chin chain shows a smooth aged patina. The interior leather shows minor wear.
