Description:

Manufactured circa 1856 with this example having brass grip straps. This specific revolver is photographed and described on page 163 of " '51 Colt Navies" by Nathan Swayze (Everything in the large photograph matches exactly including the hollowed out loading lever screw, non-factory). The barrel has the one line London address, left side of the frame has "COLTS/PATENT" and the left side of the trigger guard has small letters "S" and "G". The cylinder has the navy scene with "COLTS PATENT No. 42661". Un-numbered replacement loading lever and incorrect wedge screw with remaining numbers matching. Two British proofs are stamped on the left barrel lug with the proofs alternating on the rear of the cylinder between the chambers. Fitted with a one piece varnished grip.

Rating Definition:

Good, showing a smooth dark brown patina overall. The brass grip straps have a smooth attractive "mustard yellow" patina. The grip is good with a repaired chip, a notch near the bottom and some scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
