Description:

This revolver was manufactured in 1856. The top barrel flat is marked with the pointing finger, "COLT'S PT./1855" flanked by Maltese crosses and "ADDRESS COL. COLT/HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." flanked by Maltese crosses. The cylinder is roll engraved with the cabin and Indian scene and the matching serial number is marked on the butt and cylinder. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and loading lever, and fitted with a smooth varnished one-piece walnut grip.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 80% original blue finish with mostly a smooth brown patina on the cylinder, high edge wear and some thinning and wear on the back strap, and bottom of the frame. The cylinder scene is 95% visible and the markings are clear. The action needs work, the hammer does not go to full cock. The grip is near excellent with 95% plus original varnish, showing some slight wear on the lower edges and a small chip on the left heel.
