This is an extraordinary example of a cattle brand engraved Colt Single Action Army revolver that was manufactured in 1927 and subsequently embellished by the famous Master Engraver Cole Agee. The revolver is almost completely covered with cattle brand engraving and the brands are well executed in the typical Western style with the recognizable "2 Lazy 2 P", (on the butt), "XIT", "HIX" and many other famous Texas brands with a punch dot background. The only surfaces not covered are the front strap, the upper inside area of the trigger guard, the cylinder flutes and the hammer (the latter Agee never engraved when doing the cattle brand engraving). The top of the ejector housing has a feather pattern. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address, the left side "45 COLT" in a banner and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates in a panel followed by the Rampant Colt. The matching serial number appears on the bottom of the frame and right side of the grip straps under the grips. The matching assembly number "1075" is marked on the right rear of the frame and on the loading gate. The revolver is fitted with a two piece pearl grips with a scallop brass overlay on the bottoms, gold coin medallions, two other gold coin inset on the left panel and a gold relief long horn steer head with red stone eyes on the right panel, (one stone is absent). It's believed Agee got the inspiration for the cattle brand engraving from the book "A Century of Texas Cattle Brands". As a result of Agee's connection to Mexico, President Miguel Aleman asked Cole Agee to use his imagination in creating him a one-of-a-kind engraved Colt Single Action Army revolver. Some believe that his wife, Maria, suggested Texas cattle brands and gave him a copy of the book. It is estimated that Cole Agee only did 15 to 20 of these Texas cattle brand guns, making this a very rare piece.

Master embellished with 75% blue finish remaining mixed with a smooth gray patina. The hammer retains most of the original case colors. The grips are excellent. There is a small chip on the upper edge of each panel. The engraving and markings remain crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
