Description:

Manufactured in 1923. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address and "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER 44-40" on the left side. The left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt. The upper left front of the trigger guard is marked with the Colt triangle "VP" proofmark and the number "1". The matching serial number is marked on the bottom of the frame and on the right side of the grip straps under the grip. The rear face of the cylinder is one number off, "92" (the number of the revolver is 93, possibly a factory error.) The matching assembly number "856" is marked on the loading gate and right rear of the frame. Blue finish with casehardened frame, blade front and frame notch rear sights, and fitted with two piece Fleur-de-Lis checkered walnut grips with Colt medallions. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, blue finish, with grips as "Not Listed" and that it was sold as 1 to Ellery Arms Company, address unknown, and shipped to Baker, Hamilton & Pacific Company in San Francisco, California on January 31, 1923.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The revolver retains 95% plus original blue finish with some muzzle and high edge wear, thinning on the back strap, with wear on the heel and a bright drag line on the cylinder. The frame retains 90% original case colors with areas of smooth gray patina. The grips are excellent. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
