This is an example of a factory engraved derringer with a rarely found gold finish and British proofs. The sides of the barrel, frame and top of the back strap are decorated with floral scroll and punch dot designs. The top of the barrel is marked with the large italics and the bottom is marked with two small British crown proofs. The matching serial number is marked on the frame and bottom of the barrel. There is also an "E" on the left side of the frame under the grip. Blade front sight and fitted with smooth walnut grips. Complete in a wooden case with brass disk on the lid inscribed "TCB/10/80", blue velvet lining and a Colt's Pall Mall label on the inside of the lid. Included is an original cleaning rod and an old brass tag with "Christies East" and "G-107" paper sticker.

Fine as period replated. The derringer retains 70% gold finish overall. The grips are excellent with most of the original varnish remaining, showing some slight high edge wear and a few minor dings. The markings and engraving are clear. The action is excellent. The case is very fine with a few minor scratches and dents on the exterior, some loss of fabric from the hammer and some stains. The Pall Mall label is correct and very fine with some oil spots present.
