According to the included factory letter, this revolver was shipped June 7, 1989 to Southern Gun & Tackle, Melrose Park, PA. The letter confirms the serial number, caliber, barrel length, finish and ivory grips, as well as the gun's status as a factory engraved sampler, displaying 4 different styles of Colt engraving. Standard markings, decorated with B Grade "Contemporary" floral scroll and punch dot engraving on the barrel and ejector rod housing, "Henshaw" style scrollwork on the bottom of the back strap and trigger guard bow, "Nimschke" style scroll, punch and burst patterns on the cylinder and "Helfricht" scroll, punch and floral burst engraving on the frame. Additionally, the 150th Rampant Colt logo and "Colt Engraving Sampler" are line cut engraved along the back strap. Black powder style frame, with three line patent dates. Fitted with smooth two-piece ivory grips numbered to the gun with 150th Colt Custom Shop medallions. The left panel is scrimshawed "R. Henshaw 1831/L. Nimschke 1850-1900/C. Helfricht 1871-1921/Contemporary" in script. Complete with wood case.
