Manufactured in 1982 and shipped in 1984. The factory letter does not list the engraver, but the quality of work is of the highest level. At times when work orders were slow, Colt would have a Master Engraver do the work to keep them busy but would not list it as such because the order did not call for, nor the price paid to be Master Engraver work. This appears to be the case here. This revolver features factory Class D scroll engraving with coverage on all surfaces except the front strap and part of the trigger guard plate. The top of the barrel is marked with the one line address, the left "COLT BUNTLINE SPECIAL 45" and the left side of the frame is marked with the two line, three patent dates followed by the Rampant Colt. Blue finish with casehardened frame and fitted with a smooth one-piece pearl Grip. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, blue/casehardened finish, grip as "Not Listed", factory Class "D" engraving and that it was shipped as 1 of 2 to the John Jovino Company, New York, N.Y. on Colt Custom Shop order number 2643, August 24, 1984. Included is a plain brown shipping carton with the Colt Custom Shop label numbered to gun.
