Description:

This is a Victorian era Officer's linen foreign service helmet that has a khaki stained fabric over a wicker frame. The helmet plate has the silvered letters "NC" (Natal Carabiniers) under a Victorian crown. A silver spike on a cross base is on the top with a silver chin chain hanging on a hook on the right side. Silver Tudor rose on the left. Green lined interior peaks front and back. Leather brow band and white linen skull liner. The Natal Carabiniers served in the Zulu War and were present at the battle of Isandlwana.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with scattered minor stains on the exterior fabric and some tarnishing of the silver fittings. There is a small chip missing from the rear finial of the spike base. The interior and brow band show some age wear.
