A) Engraved Silver Stocked Meyer & Mortimer English Percussion Pistol

Description:

This is a nice matching pair of engraved all metal percussion pistols manufactured by Meyer & Mortimer of London, England. The barrel is blue with the muzzle end of the barrel (15/16 inch) is dodecagon, (12 sided), the center (2 5/8 inches) is round and the breech end is octagon. The round portion and breech plug are nicely floral scroll engraved. The lock and hammer are iron and were casehardened and are lightly floral scroll engraved. The lock is marked "MEYER &/MORTIMER". The stock is silver and features floral scroll engraving on the grip and underside and a feather and geometric pattern on the forearm. There is a large rhinestone mounted on the right side of the grip and a belt hook on the left side of the stock. Ball trigger and iron ramrod with button head. Included is a response letter from Meyer & Mortimer dated April 14th, 1989 stating that all their records were destroyed by a German bomb in 1941.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 50% plus bright original blue finish with a smooth brownish gray patina on the balance. The lock and hammer have a smooth grayish patina. The belt hook has a smooth mottled gray patina. The stock has attractively aged and all of the engraving remains crisp. The action is fine.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 60% original blue finish with a smooth brown and gray patina on the balance. The lock shows some traces of original case colors behind the hammer with a smooth brown patina on the balance. The hammer and trigger also have a smooth brown patina. The silver has attractively aged and all the engraving is crisp. The action is fine.
