Description:

This is a Victorian era officer's levee dress coat. The coat is composed of black wool with extensive embroidered gold bullion floral patterns covering both breasts, the cuffs and the tails. The cuffs have a black velvet background for the embroidery. Lined in white silk with quilted areas. There is a line of decorative gilt buttons up the center with the Royal Arms of Great Britain on them. There are gilt hooks and gilt loops alternating up the center to "button" the coat. With a felt accordion hat with black ribbon, gold bullion twisted wire, a gilt button with the Royal Arms of Great Britain and white feather plumage. There is a white leather sweat band and a white silk lining.

Rating Definition:

The coat is very good with some wear on the gold bullion and a dark aged patina on the worn areas. There are some stains on the lining. The hat is good with some wear along the edge and hardening of the leather sweat band.
