Description:

This is an Infantry Officer's black woolen felt cloth 1880 pattern forage cap of the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) circa 1885. The peak is of black buffalo leather and is banded at the edge with heavy silver bullion. The waist of this "kepi" style cap is encircled with green lace depicting thistle branches. The top is centered by a green cord ball over a looped base. The regimental badge is silver and sports the thistle wreath and star of Scotland as well as the powder horn of a rifle corps. The inside liner is of quilted red silk with a leather sweat band.

Rating Definition:

Very good, the hat shows some wear associated with it's age. The faded quilted lining is also very good. The leather sweat band is fair with several tears.
