Description:

1) This is a Victorian era officer's pouch of the Hampshire Yeomanry Cavalry. The silvered flap is engraved with floral decoration around the outside edge and has a gilt Victorian crown over a "HYC" cypher. The body is composed of black leather with gold bullion on the top around the outside edge. There are two belt attachment loops with floriated hardware. 2) This is a Cavalry/Yeomanry officer’s hallmarked silver mounted pouch. Hallmarks indicate it was produced by "B&P" (Bent & Parker) in Birmingham. The silver front is decorated around the outside edge with floral scroll engraving. There is a gilt crown over "VR" cypher in the center of the lid. The body is composed of crimson leather with gold bullion on the top around the outside edge. There are hallmarked silver belt attachment loops with floriated hardware. 3) This is a Victorian era officer's crossbelt of the 16th (Queen’s Lancers) silver mounted crossbelt. This is a scarce example by Hawkes & Co. composed of gold lace with a red silk stripe down the center and backed with crimson Moroccan leather. The buckle, keeper, end tab, pricker plates are all silver by "J&Co.".

Rating Definition:

1) Good, there is some deterioration of the interior leather. The exterior leather shows some minor wear. The silvered plate shows a dark aged patina and the gilt components are bright. 2) Good as partially restored. The silver has a dark aged patina with cracks and soldering on the corners. The leather on the inside of the lid and front part of the box have been replaced and show some wear. The gold bullion has darkened and shows wear. The gilt badge is bright. 3) Very good, the gold lace has darkened, the silver shows a dark aged patina and the red leather shows some minor wear.
