Description:

Nelson's victory at the mouth of the Nile on August 1798 was celebrated by the Admiral Nelson's prize agent, Alexander Davison, by having these medals struck. This is a silver example that were issued to junior officers. It is un-named and has been pierced for suspension (originally issued without a suspender but many recipients added a ring). Davison's address appears on the rim, the obverse has Peace caressing a shield with Nelson's portrait and the reverse depicts the British fleet at Aboukir Bay.
