Description:

The medal is engraved "John Hole/MINOTAUR" on the reverse which depicts the British fleet at Aboukir Bay during the Battle of the Nile (1798). The medal is bronze gilt and has been pierced for suspension. According to the consignor notes Hole was 33 years old at the time of the battle and held the rate of Able Seaman.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 90% of the gilt remaining (most of the loss is on the rim).
