Description:

According to the included notarized letter from LTC (Ret) Thomas Johnson, author of several texts on German edged weapons, this is a quality example of a Weyersberg 1943-1945 production lion pommel officer's sword. 33 1/2 inch blade, with a rounded spine, Weyersberg mark on the left ricasso, and etched panels on each side, with a Nazi eagle and helmet on the left, and a banner reading "Fur Her und Oflicht, bis herz und klinge bricht" (For Honor and Duty, until heart and blade break) on the right. Gilt brass hilt, with a Nazi eagle on the right languet, "UG" inscribed on the left, raised scroll decoration, lion head pommel with red glass eyes, and a wire wrapped grip. Secured to the knuckle guard is a black leather portapee with silver wire accents and solid acorn, and a black enamel finished scabbard.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with a few minor handling marks on the excellent blade. The portapee, described by Johnson as still in it's original position, shows cracking at the folds and minor fraying of the wire. Scabbard is very fine, with minor wear and flaking.
