Description:

This is a very nice example of a post WWI Artillery Luger that has been reworked into a 1920 type Luger. These post war Lugers all started out originally as WWI issued Lugers that were sold as commercial Lugers during the Weimar era, both inside Europe and the United States. This example has an undated chamber with the standard "DWM" logo on the toggle. The distinctive 8 inch artillery barrel is void of any proof marks or serial number, with the correct artillery style tangent rear sight and standard front sight. It has the standard safety and extractor markings and is numbered in the military manner with the full serial number (3573a) on the front of the frame and barrel extension with the last two digits on the various small parts. It has a WWI type nickel plated wooden base magazine that is marked on the bottom "8421" over a script letter proof. This pistol is complete with a brown unmarked leather holster with a WWI proofed takedown tool and artillery style cleaning rod.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall with 95% of an arsenal refurbished blue showing wear on the edges and high spots, with blue loss on the side plate hump, frame rails and left side of the muzzle and barrel area. The various small parts retain 40% of their straw colors overall. The grips are very fine with nice checkering on both sides with minimal handling marks. The Luger has matching numbers, except the barrel and grips which are unnumbered/unproofed, and the magazine as noted. The holster is very fine with a nice smooth leather finish with tight stitching. The backside of the holster has been refitted with belt loops, and the pull strap has been resewn into the holster. A nice example of a post WWI 1920 Rework Artillery Luger pistol.
