This is an early WWII rifle as produced in 1941 at the Steyr factory. The top of the receiver ring is marked "bnz/41" with the serial number and eagle firing proof on the left side. The right side of the receiver has the standard Steyr "Eagle/623" and "Eagle/77" Waffenamt proofs and single firing proof on the barrel and receiver, with the standard block "Mod. 98" marked receiver wall. The top rear section of the barrel is stamped with the steel manufacturers code of "13340RD". It has the correct earlier style "H" pattern milled front barrel band with the milled lower band, trigger guard and floor plate. The front of the trigger guard has the double "eagle/77" proofs with an "eagle/WaA77" proof on the floor plate. The rifle is fitted with the standard laminated stock and handguard with the Heers Waffenamt proof and double "eagle/623" Waffenamt proofs on the right side with the serial number, "eagle/623" Waffenamt proof and small "dot" proof on the under side of the stock. The stock is fitted with the correct style cupped buttplate. This rifle is complete with an original cleaning rod, front sight hood, rubber muzzle cover, original cross-hatched leather sling, canvas cover and manual.

Excellent with 97% plus of the original blued finish overall with very minor high point edge wear. The stock and handguard are both in excellent condition overall with a nice matching color on both items with some pressure dents concentrated below the action, where it was sitting in a rifle rack. The rifle has all matching numbers on the various parts. An excellent example of an early K98 rifle.
