Description:

This is an example of a desirable 1908 first issue altered military Luger pistol. The chamber is blank and the toggle is marked with the DWM monogram. The left side barrel extension is marked with the Imperial eagle and two crown over Gothic letter proofmarks. The eagle proof is repeated on the left rear of the barrel and side of the breechblock. The matching serial number is marked on the front of the frame and bottom of the barrel. The only part marked with the partial number "33" is the rear toggle. The grip panels are un-numbered. The safety and extractor are marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively. The front strap is marked "F.M.G.A.8.13" with the previous marking "80 R. 10.2" struck. Checkered grips and nickel magazine with wooden base numbered "2119/f". The inside of the right grip panel is marked with the number "9" or "6" and the letter "P", the left has the letter "D". The hold open pin exposed on lower frame has the correct proof.

Rating Definition:

Good as partially cold blued, with 40% blue finish remaining on the balance, showing some muzzle and high edge wear, some scattered pitting under the finish and a mix of blue finish and mottled grayish patina on the front strap. Most of the straw color remains on the small parts. The grips are good with some moderate wear on the high points, some scattered minor dings and crisp checkering. Clear markings. Mechanically fine.
