Description:

This is an example of a standard WWI Imperial German Luger pistol as manufactured by Erfurt near the end of World War I with blue finish and straw finish on the trigger, takedown lever, magazine release, safety lever and ejector. Fixed sights, with the "1918" date on the chamber and the "crown/ERFURT" on top of the toggle. Proofing is extensive, with the traditional barrel extension and firing proofs supplemented with Erfurt proof stamps on the side rail, takedown lever, side plate, front of the trigger guard, and on all the small parts, along with the matching numbers. The safety area on the left side of the toggle housing is marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" is marked on the extractor. Grips are checkered and matching. Complete with a blue finished sheet steel wood base magazine, which has an Erfurt proof and no serial number. Included with the pistol is a leather military holster maker marked inside the flap "STEINMETZ/BRESLAU/1915".

Rating Definition:

Excellent with 90% plus original military blue finish and 85% straw finish on the small parts, having some scattered minor scratches and finish loss at the sharp edges and high areas, with crisp original markings and proofs. The grips are excellent showing light handling with sharp and defined checkering. The holster is good with some minor surface cracking on the flap and one belt loop on the back has become loose at the bottom stitch, with clear original markings.
