This Colt Service Model Ace was manufactured in 1939, with the original high polish blue finish with checkered walnut grips. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the elongated Colt patent dates and address in two lines followed by the Rampant Colt trademark. The right side of the slide is marked "COLT/SERVICE" behind the distinctive Ace in triangle, and ".22 LONG RIFLE/MODEL". The slide is fitted with the Stevens adjustable target rear sight and a fixed short ramp front sight with serrated face. The trigger is milled with a checkered face and the slide stop, safety lock, wide hammer and mainspring housing are checkered. The right side of the frame is stamped with the serial number "SM 649". The slide is stamped with the matching serial number "649" in one line behind the firing pin retainer. The blued magazine is stamped on the bottom of the base with the Colt Service Model Ace markings in three lines.

Excellent with 97% plus original finish with scattered light handling scratches some heavier on the front grip strap and very minor sharp edge wear, the markings are crisp and clear. The very fine grips show some minor handling and compression marks with overall sharp and defined checkering. Mechanically excellent. The magazine is very good with half of the blue remaining with surface rust overall. These Service Model Ace pistols are very scarce and seldom encountered!
