This is an excellent example of an early production Colt Ace pistol manufactured in 1931. The left side of the slide is marked with the Colt, one block, two line factory address and patent dates with the Rampant Colt stamped behind the legend and in front of the slide serrations. The right side is marked with "COLT <ACE> .22 LONG/ RIFLE". The left trigger guard is marked "3/Colt VP" proof mark with the right side of the trigger guard marked with number "20" inspector mark. It is fitted with the Colt factory checkered trigger, wide spur hammer, checkered arched mainspring housing, and checkered slide stop and thumb safety. This example is fitted with the standard wide blade front sight and adjustable rear sight. It is also fitted with a set of original Colt factory checkered walnut grips and is complete with an extra two-tone Colt ACE marked 22LR magazine. The gun includes a late production 1960s era, unmarked replacement Colt wood-grain shipping box, and Colt instruction manual.

Excellent with 95% plus of the original Colt pre-war blue finish overall with wear on the edges and high spots with some finish loss on the front end of the slide, with some very minor scratches/handling marks on the left side of the slide at the transition line. There is some cold blue touch up present on the right rear frame and slide. The grips are excellent with a nice matching brown color on both sides, with only a couple of minor nicks. The box is excellent with nice brown color on the lid, with only wear on the edges and corners, a small dent in the lid and the corners are intact. A very nice example of a prewar Colt "ACE" automatic pistol.
