This is a much sought after example of a boxed Colt Super Match .38 Semi-Automatic Pistol that was manufactured in 1936. Colt only manufactured 5,000 of these specially fit and finished target grade pistols. 1,200 were purchased and sent to London in 1939. The pistol has the Colt high polish commercial blue finish, correct barrel marked "COLT SUPER 38 AUTOMATCH" internally with bright chamber and is fitted with checkered walnut grips. The left side of the matching serialized slide is marked with the elongated two line address/1897-1913 patent dates and the right side is marked "SUPER MATCH/COLT SUPER.38/AUTOMATIC" followed by the Rampant Colt. The serial number is marked on the right side of the frame, with the matching number on the slide. The left side of the trigger guard web is marked with an "X" over the Colt "VP" triangle proof and "60" on the opposite. Low profile fixed sights, wide finely checkered hammer spur, checkered trigger, slide stop, thumb safety and arched mainspring housing, and two tone magazine marked "COLT SUPER/38 AUTO" on the base. Complete with the original maroon hinged lid box numbered to the gun, an extra pair of Franzite and checkered walnut grips, original test target and manual.

Excellent plus in original box. The pistol retains 98% plus original high polish blue finish with some very mild wear on the muzzle end of the slide and some extremely light surface rust present on the front grip strap. The grips are near new with only the slightest handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The box sides are fair with a separated corner and tear on the box, all the corners separated on the lid with a portion of the flap absent. The matching number on the fine bottom is clearly visible. Some of the outer paper and the end labels have peeled off.
