This is a rare example of one of the 500 Model 1911A1 Pistols manufactured by the Singer Manufacturing Company during WWII. There were a total of only 500 pistols produced by the Singer Manufacturing Company, under the U. S. Army, Ordnance Educational Order No. W-ORD-396, with almost all of these pistols theoretically issued to the U.S. Army Air Corps. With the very low total number produced, examples are very scarce in any condition. The left side of the slide is marked in two lines "S. MFG.CO./ELIZABETH, N.J., U.S.A.", with no markings on the right side. The top of the slide and left side of the frame are correctly stamped with a single "P" proof mark and the slide is correctly not stamped with the pistol serial number under the firing pin retaining plate. The left side of the frame is stamped with the "JKC" initials of Col. John K. Clement, the Executive Officer of the New York Ordnance District. The right side of the frame is stamped in two lines "UNITED STATES PROPERTY/M 1911 A1 U.S.ARMY" with the serial number "No S800491" below that. The pistol has the wide spur hammer with borderless checkering, with the checkered thumb safety, slide stop, trigger and mainspring housing. The grips are the correct early pattern for a Singer pistol, that is without the reinforcing rings around the grip screw bushings and they lack the internal reinforcing ribs on the backsides with no mold markings. The all blued barrel is a correct Singer manufacture that has only a single "P" proof on the left side of the lug with no other proof marks. The pistol has an all blued magazine with the floor plate pins ground smooth on the sides, with no markings anywhere. One point to note is that the feed ramp is blued and always has been. Other Singer 45's which have been inspected by writer have had this polished. We speculate that being the ninth to last produced, this may have been an oversight by the workers in their rush to complete the contract. For a true .45 Auto collector, this is the holy grail of all Model 1911A1 WWII pistols.

Excellent with 98% plus of the original high polish blue finish overall. There are some minor surface scuffs present on the rear of slide as well as under the ejection port. The plastic grips are also excellent with nice sharp checkering on both sides with only one minor handling mark/scratch on the lower left grip. As noted it is complete with a correct magazine and barrel. Mechanically excellent. An outstanding example of a very rare and desirable Singer manufactured Model 1911A1 pistol.
