Description:

This an excellent example of an original mid 1943 production Remington-Rand Model 1911A1 pistol. The left side of the slide is marked with the third type marking "REMINGTON RAND INC./SYRACUSE, N.Y. U.S.A." and "P" on top just ahead of the rear sight. The Ordnance Corps final acceptance cartouche is stamped on the right side of the frame behind the grip with, "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over serial number (1517308) and "M 1911 A1 U.S. ARMY" in front of the slide stop pin hole. The left side of the frame is stamped with "FJA" the inspector mark for Frank J. Atwood's with a "P" near the magazine release. It has the checkered stamped trigger, checkered hammer with narrow spur, checkered thumb safety, serrated slide catch, serrated mainspring housing with eight grooves and Keyes Fibre grips with the narrow reinforcement ring around the screw holes. It is fitted with a WWII blue High Standard produced barrel marked with the "P" proof on the left side and "HS" on the right side. This pistol is complete with a blue finish magazine marked with an "R" on the top lip of the base. Complete with one spare WWI half tone magazine.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus with 99% of the original parkerized finish overall with edge and high spot wear, with some slight blue finish loss on top of the barrel chamber area from cycling the action. The grips are excellent. An exceptional mid-WWII Remington contract Model 1911A1 pistol.
