Description:

This is a Victorian era side drum used by the 2nd Battalion Scots Guards. The body is composed of brass with a painted front side showing the Royal Arms of Great Britain topped by a Victorian crown in the center with a banner above marked "2nd Btn SCOTS GUARDS". Along the right side 6 battle honors on a corkscrewing banner, bottom center is a "sphinx/EGYPT" battle honor and on the left side are 6 more battle honors on a corkscrewing banner. Signed vertically on the left side "Henry Potter & Co. LTD. 30 CHARING (cross) LONDON". The top and bottom rim are wood that is painted with red strips along the edges, a blue central band and a white weaving stripe in the blue field. With a letter from (Musical Instruments) Limited stating that it has not been re-emblazoned or restored apart from new drum heads and ropes as dictated by age/wear.

Rating Definition:

Good, the drum has moderate wear overall with considerable paint flaking on the wooden rims. The brass section has some small scratches and the exposed brass is started to have an aged patina. The drum heads and ropes are very good.
