Description:

This is one of the 178 British Transport Medals awarded to recipients with both South Africa 1899-1902 and China 1900 clasps. The Transport Medal was the last of the British medals associated with major conflicts at the turn of the century. The medal was awarded to officers of the merchant vessels that carried troops and supplies to the wars in South Africa and China. This example was awarded T.R. Watson. As stated, the medal has the South Africa and China clasps. It has a red ribbon with two blue stripes. According to the consignor notes, Watson was a 2nd Officer aboard the Landaura in China and aboard the Ujena in China and South Africa. Both vessels belonged to the British India Steamship lines.

Rating Definition:

Fine with some minor handling marks. The ribbon has a couple small blemishes and has been secured to a black display board by adhesive tape.
