Description:

This is an excellent example of a very desirable 1902 Luger carbine that is complete with an original non-matching number shoulder stock. These carbines were an attempt by DWM to a produce a light weight rifle substitute. There were a total of 2,500 of this model ever produced in two serial number blocks with this specific pistol being in the first block of which only 1,100 total were made. The unique feature of these pistols is that they all have a 11 3/4 inch barrel, a small spring accelerator mechanism in the forearm that actually helps function the pistol during the cycling phase with the early features such the long frame, with the flat mainspring, grip safety, dished toggles, and recessed/flat breech bolt. These were also fitted with the early style three position rear sight (adjustable from 100-300 meters) mounted on top of the barrel in front of the receiver and a bead front sight mounted on a ramp on top of the barrel. The top of the chamber is blank and the front toggle has the DWM logo for "Deutsche Waffen und Munitions Fabriken". The full serial number (21819) is correctly marked on the frame extension, and the underside of the barrel. The last two digits of the serial number are marked on the bottom of the recoil lug, inside the forend, grip safety, trigger, takedown lever, side plate, breech bolt, toggle assembly and the back side of both grip panels. The pistol stock is completely original and has a black horn buttplate, lower sling swivel with an original attaching iron that is numbered "76" on top. The magazine has a nickel plated body with the correct wood base marked "GERMANY". These pistols all have a rust blue finish with a straw color on the various small parts.

Rating Definition:

Exceptional with 98% original blue finish with minor edge wear overall from light handling and cycling the action. The various small parts retain 80% plus of their original straw colors overall. The grip panels and forend are both excellent with a nice medium brown, matching color and excellent checkering showing only a few minor nicks and minor handling marks. The stock is excellent overall and has a honey brown color overall with some very minor handling marks with a few minor nicks in the checkering. The attaching iron retains 98% original rust blue finish with just some minor edge and high spot wear. The pistol has all matching numbers except the magazine as noted above. Just an exceptional nice and all original 1902 Luger Carbine set.
