Description:

This is an excellent example of a Standard Model Mauser rifle. Developed in 1933, this Model was the final commercial configuration issued by the pre-war Mauser factory. The matching serial number is marked on the left rear of the barrel and left side of the receiver ring with "STANDARD-MODELL " on the sidewall. The left side of the receiver ring is also marked with the crown of "B", "U", "G" and "N" proof marks. "S/42" code "ghost receiver" with the Mauser banner, (gold filled), over a faintly visible "1937". Writer believes that Mauser used rejected military actions for the commercial trade as this would explain the faint markings on the receiver. Matching serial numbers are also marked on the bolt, floor plate and trigger guard. Blade front sight and tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters, all milled parts, an original cleaning rod with slotted head and mounted with a smooth straight grip stock with a small unidentified stamp behind the rear sling swivel, brown leather sling and muzzle cover.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The rifle retains 98% of the original bright blue finish, with some mild thinning on the barrel, a few small dings on the floor plate and some mild handling marks. The stock is very good with some minor chips on the toe and overall some minor dings and scratches. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent. The sling is good with some minor flex cracking.
