Description:

This is a very nice example of a standard WWII K98 rifle as used by al German forces throughout WWII. The top of the receiver is proofed with the standard eagle 749 Waffenamt over "bcd/ 42", the wartime code for the for the Gustloff factory and 1942 the year that the rifle was manufactured. The receiver has the standard "Eagle/749" Waffenamt and number "1" Gustloff proofs with the block "MOD 98" markings on the side wall. The top rear section of the barrel has the "ch 630 and 41 next to the standard eagle firing proof. It is fitted with a set of the earlier all milled barrel bands, floor plate and trigger guard. The rifle has a standard mid-WWII blued bolt that is proofed with a single number "1" under the bolt. The stock and hand guard are the correct late war laminated versions with the stock being numbered on the underside behind the pistol grip followed by a small Eagle/Waffenamt proof, followed by a single small letter "c" indicating manufacture by the Gustloff factory. It is complete with the original cleaning rod, front sight hood, rubber muzzle cover and an original leather sling.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% of the original blue finish overall with spotting and minor pitting on the front barrel band mixed with some old reblued finish. The rest of the rifle shows near excellent blue with edge and high spot wear with minor handling and cycling wear with the exception of the middle and forward bands which are refinished. The stock and hand guard are both very fine with a nice even matching color overall, showing minor handling marks and light pressure dents in some areas from years of handling and maybe light field use. The rifle has all matching numbers.
