This is a very nice example of a late 1942 production German luger pistol rig. These late war P.08 Mauser Lugers were termed "Black Widow" based on their dark black salt blue finish. The chamber area is dated 42 and front toggle is marked "byf", the wartime code for the Mauser factory. The right side of the barrel extension has the double "Eagle/135" acceptance proofs next to the single eagle firing proof, with the latter repeated on the barrel and breechblock. The upper safety area and extractor are correctly marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively and it has the late "P.08" markings on the left side of frame. It is complete with two blue type three "fxo/122" marked luger magazines that have the aluminum base with the reinforcing pin through the center and stamped "7571/d/ and 7571" with no Waffenamt proofs. This rig is complete with an excellent late production all black luger holster. The back of the holster is stamped: "P08/jhz/1942/WaA658" and is complete with a blued takedown tool that is stamped with an "Eagle/135" Waffenamt proof.

Fine as partially refinished (side plate grip strap and ejector) with 90% of the wartime blued finish remaining overall with edge/high spot wear and blue loss on the side plate hump front edges of the frame rails with thinning on the grip straps. The walnut grips are in excellent condition with nice checkering on both sides. The redyed holster is in good condition with clear sharp/crisp markings on the back side with tight stitching showing minor scuffing overall. This Luger has all matching numbers except the replacement grips which are unnumbered and the two magazines which have been renumbered in a police fashion with the larger numbers and no proof marks.
