This bolt action rifle has an inscription on the barrel that reads "SPECIALLY MADE FOR COLONEL PAUL E. SHANAHAN UNITED STATES AIR FORCE/BY JOH. SPRINGER'S ERBEN, WIEN/FROM MIKE". The barrel has a ramped beaded blade front sight and a fixed rear sight on a quarter rib. The floor plate is scroll engraved surrounding a buck and a doe Red Stag. The trigger guard is also scroll engraved surrounding the initials "PES". The rifle is equipped with double set triggers, a butter knife bolt handle and a quick detachable Hensoldt-Wetzlar Dialytan 4x scope. Mounted on a walnut pistol grip stock with multi-point checkering, raised cheekpiece, steel grip cap and a plastic buttplate. With felt scope cover and leather lens caps.

Very good as professionally engraved and refinished. The rifle retains 99% blue finish with some small areas of pitting on the floor plate, a few light handling marks and some cycling wear. The rear trigger has some oxidation. The replacement wood is excellent with a few light scratches and a couple minor pressure dents. The scope is refinished and has clear optics but needs work.
