The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1895/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK" and the serial number is marked on the lower tang behind the trigger. Dovetailed brass blade front sight with an adjustable rear sporting sight. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with ebony insert Schnabel forend and straight grip stock with a casehardened crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The barrel retains 90% of the original blue finish with areas thinning to a smooth brown. The receiver retains 70% original blue finish with some smooth brown and gray patina and high edge wear. The magazine retains 80% original blue finish with normal wear from cycling the action. The lever shows strong original blue mixed with a smooth mottled brown patina. The buttplate has a smooth brownish gray patina. The wood is also very fine with a few minor scratches, minor dings and handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
