Description:

Manufactured from 1859 to 1874. The pepperbox has the straight standing breech, straight grip to frame juncture, barrel release on the underside of the frame and checkered gutta percha grips. The straight standing breech features a floral engraving, with a checkered engraving on the backstrap. The frame sides and underside feature a unique pattern engraving that incorporates a checkered board pattern. "C. SHARPS/PATENT 1859" is stamped around the hammer screw on the left side of the frame and "C. SHARPS & Co/PHILADA, PA." on the right side.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The barrels have a smooth brown patina with some scattered minor pitting. The frame retains some traces of the original silver plating with the exposed brass having a smooth aged patina. Both grips have a non-factory accent line cut near the frame and have a screw near the butt and a pin near the frame crudely added. Otherwise the grips are good with a couple absent chips and some scattered minor handling marks. The checkering is very good. The engraving is clear.
