Description:

Migrating from Germany to America in the 1850s, the Meunier Family established themselves in Milwaukee. Globe front and tang mounted diopter rear sights, with the 2-line address on the top barrel flat and a silver banded breech. Equipped with a double set trigger with wire front trigger and a swing-down hinged handrest triggerguard. Stock is fitted with a German silver tip, a round palm rest, textured and carved wrist, raised scroll and leaf carving around the shadow line cheekpiece and a Swiss-profile butt. 20th century chrome plated buttplate, triggerguard, lockplate, barrel tang and stock plate. An inscription panel marked "J.A. Sidler" is on the underside of the buttstock; notes from a prior owner indicate Joseph Anton Sidler was a German immigrant turned Milwaukee jeweler from 1854 to 1892. With a false muzzle and bullet starter.

Rating Definition:

Fine as partially replated in chrome. With 70% faded original blue finish on barrel, showing minor spotting and handling marks overall. The fittings show minor flaking and dings, with a crack in the front triggerguard finial. The stock is very good, with some cracking around the triggerguard, a mended chip below the bolster, and scattered dents and scratches. Mechanically very good.
