This is a solid example of an 1893 Borchardt semi-automatic pistol that was manufactured by DWM. The Borchardt was the direct forerunner for the Luger pistol (this example was even made by the same company DWM) that featured a toggle bolt and distinctive grip in the center of the frame. The pistol is complete with an original attachable walnut stock and black calf-skin holster that attaches to the stock. The top of the toggle is roll-stamped: "D.R.P./No.75887" in two lines. The right side of the receiver is roll-stamped: "SYSTEM BORCHARDT. PATENT./DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN./BERLIN" in three lines. "Crown/B", "Crown/U" and "Crown/G" German commercial proof marks are stamped on the left side of the barrel. "Crown/B" and "Crown/U" proofmarks are stamped on the left side of the receiver near the chamber and on the left side of the toggle. The serial number, "1681" is stamped on the underside of the barrel, the rear toggle link, the left side of the trigger, and on the underside of the butt. The magazine is numbered "1232". The front grip strap has been numbered "5786", the significance of this is unknown. The Borchardt semi-automatic pistol is beautifully made. It is historically significant as one of the first successful semi-automatic pistols and the predecessor of the Luger pistol.

Fine as partially refinished with 40% of the scattered original blue remaining overall with some scattered cold blue touch up finish applied on the chamber frame and grip straps area. The grips are both in very fine original condition with minimal handling marks with nice original distinct checkering on both sides. The walnut stock is in fine condition showing most of it's original factory finish with only minor handling and rub marks on the side where the leather holster has contacted the stock. The black leather holster is in good condition with 10% of the original leather surface still intact on the holster. A very nice, solid example, of an early and fairly rare model 1893 DWM/Borchardt pistol.
