Description:

This is a standard WWI 1896 Mauser Contract Broomhandle pistol chambered in the 9 mm Luger cartridge. The frame and chamber area are both marked with the standard Mauser factory addresses with the left side of the chamber area and top rear section of the breech bolt also stamped with a "Crown/U" proofmark. It has a standard fixed front sight with the tangent rear sight marked "50-500" with the "NS" marked hammer. It is fitted with standard 23 groove grips which have the large, red painted number "9" on each side.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 75% of the original blue finish overall with even honest wear on all the metal surfaces, with a silvery patina on the frame rails, grip straps and some area of very light/minor tiny rust spots just starting to appear on the sides of the lower frame area and sides of the grips. The grips are fine with minimal handling marks with a nice matching color on both grips, with 65% of the original red paint still remaining in the number "9". This pistol has all matching numbers to include the grips. A solid representative example of a WWI Mauser 1896, "Red-9" Broomhandle pistol.
