Description:

This is a late WWII German K98 standard issue rifle produced at the Mauser factory that has been subsequently modified/assembled into a long side rail type sniper rifle using a homemade mount. The top and right side of the receiver ring is stamped with an "Eagle/135 Waffenamt" proof, and the top of the ring is stamped "byf" the wartime code for the Mauser factory and "44" for the year of manufacture. There is a single "Eagle" firing proof on the right side of the barrel and receiver. The rifle has been fitted with a non-original long side rail type mount that has three screws and two-pins holding it on the rifle. The rifle has then been fitted with a long side rail type mount, numbered "2665" on the side that has been fitted with a commercial scope. The side of the scope is marked "HENSOLDT-WETZLAR/DIALYTAN/4x 8002" and has a focus ring on the rear of the scope tube, with a single post-cross hair reticle and no markings on top of the elevation turret. The rifle itself has the late war type stamped components, barrel bands, trigger guard and floorplate, the later being stamped with a "qnw" and "byf" subcontractor code. The rifle has the correct style late war laminated handguard and stock, with the later fitted with cupped sheet metal buttplate. The rifle is complete with a WWII leather sling and a rubber muzzle cover.

Rating Definition:

Very good as assembled with 40% blue finish remaining, showing wear on the exposed metal parts. The stock and handguard are both very good with a nice matching medium brown color showing numerous light scratches and handling marks overall. The scope and mount retain 90% of their blue finish and the scope has clear sharp optics.
