Description:

Manufactured in 1908 this is an excellent original example of a Colt Model 1902 Military Semi-Automatic pistol. It features the distinctive long lower grip with a swivel lanyard loop on the left side, eight-shot magazine and slide stop on the left side of the frame. The slide has later pattern rear serrations with the left side marked with the two line, two block patent dates/address marking with a circled Rampant Colt behind the serrations and the right side has the two line caliber marking. The trigger guard has the Colt trangle proof and the Colt "6" assembler's mark on the left side. Colt high polish commercial blue finish on the slide and frame, niter blue trigger, rear sight screws and other small parts and casehardened hammer. Fitted with checkered hard rubber grips featuring a circled Rampant Colt trademark in the middle and "Colt" in a banner at the top. The magazine has a high polish blue finish and is stamped "CAL. 38/COLT" in two lines on the bottom of the floor plate.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The pistol retains 97% of the bright original high polish blue finish. Finish wear is limited to some edge wear at the muzzle and high points of the slide and some thinning on the grip straps. The hammer has all of the vivid case colors. 85% of the delicate niter blue is present on the trigger and other small parts. The grips are excellent. All of the markings are sharp. The magazine retains 95% of the original blue finish with a brown patina on the floor plate. This is an excellent example of one of Colt's and John M. Browning's early successful automatic pistol designs.
