The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/patent dates, the left side of the barrel is marked "S & W 38 MIL". The butt is marked "U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1899". The left side of the frame at the rear is marked with a small "K.S.M.", the same marking appears on the rear of the cylinder and bottom of the barrel. The grips are checkered walnut with "J.T.T. 1901" stamped on the left and "K.S.M." again on the right.

Rating Definition:

Very good 70% original blue finish remaining showing a mixture of smooth brown patina mainly on the barrel with a few scattered surfaces scratches. Casecolored trigger and hammer are excellent. Some pitting on the grip straps. Grips and checkering are very good with some handling wear. The timing is slightly off and the action is stiff.
